Ohm
The ohm (symbol: Ω) is the SI unit of electrical impedance or, in the direct current case, electrical resistance, named after Georg Ohm. The ohm is the electric resistance between two points of a conductor when a constant potential difference of 1 volt, applied to these points, produces in the conductor a current of 1 ampere, the conductor not being the seat of any electromotive force. De ohm (symbool: Ω, de Griekse hoofdletter omega) is de afgeleide SI-eenheid voor elektrische weerstand. De ohm is genoemd naar Georg Ohm, een Duitse natuurkundige. Uitgedrukt in SI-eenheden: 1 Ω = 1 kg m² A-2 s-3. De inverse is siemens. Wanneer een elektrische spanning van 1 volt aangelegd wordt over een geleidend voorwerp (een draad bijvoorbeeld) en er ontstaat daarin een stroom van 1 ampère, dan heeft dat voorwerp een weerstand van 1 Ω. weerstand = spanning / stroomsterkte R = U / I
